A statement of mine from an e-mail to Chelsea, Steph's cousin.
It
had been years that I have converted from a revolutionary to a
reformist. In the back of my head I was worried that I might become
"eaten by the system," but the opposite has a occurred... Maybe it was
the killing of Puerto Rican guerrilla/freedom fighter/patriot/terrorist
Filiberto Ojeda by the Feds back in September. Maybe it's Hugo Chavez a
few miles away from our coasts transforming a continent. Not sure. All
I know is that the government doesn't need to give people a piece of
the pie... people need to fucking take their piece of the
pie. Land invasions, squatting, activism, piracy,
ideologically-provoked vandalism, culture jamming. Sure, democracy one
day a year on a ballot is nice... but how about an organized group of
homeless taking an abandoned building, dividing it, and administering
it from a day to day basis? Now that's organic democracy.
