"I Like It Like That" by Tito Rodriguez has always been one of my favorite Boogaloo tracks. Despite the fact that constant and watered down remakes of the song have hogged its glory though much of history, Rodriguez's original maintains a spunk that is unmatched. I have posted it for your personal enjoyment:
Now that you'd heard the spectacular original, I would like you to rest your ears for a minute before taking in what I'm about to show you.
...
...ok? Now... prepare yourself for the most disgraceful bastardization of Nuyorican music that you will ever heard. I present to you Merengue Pop singer Olga Tanon's version of "I Like It Like That":
Seeing the above video brought about the most darkest depression that has hit me since I had my thumb operated on. This song encouraged me to write a letter to my local Senator requesting that he present legislation to outlaw Merengue Pop singers like Olga. This song is so disgraceful that I felt ashamed to call myself a Puerto Rican. For a split second I rather would have been a White American.
I still get a bad taste in my mouth when I think about it.
Thanks Awilda, for the links (who actually showed me the video thinking I'd like it; jaja).
