REDD
"THE LOUDEST THING ON THIS ISLAND... IS SILENCE"

Doesn't drink. Doesn't smoke. No coffee. Likes to go to bed early and doesn't really "go out". So what's his vice, you might ask? Music and politics. Not only does he have a 5,000-album music collection that expands up to 200 selections a month, but Redd has the ability to spew out up to a dozen beats in a single evening. His music, along with the rhymes that often accompany them carry the thick residue of his politically-charged ideology and his jazzy and afro-latin rhythms. The lush tropical mountains and the gritty urbanscape that covers his native Puerto Rico can be heard in his beats as he fuses elements of traditional latin music, drum & bass, and ambience-heavy electronica. Check out his "Music for People who Like Music" and "Break^Break" beat albums in this website's "albums" sections.
Redd started off as a battle emcee, often rhyming and battling alongside fellow crew member Joey in Columbus High School's court yard and cafeteria halls. Seven yeard ago, Redd had relocated from Columbus, Georgia to his home island of Puerto Rico. Redd maintains a personal blog at barriomulas.com.
